Meet Shalom.

Hi!

I’m Shalom - seeker and creator of beauty, harmony, wonder, and peace in the world around me.

I curate the music and magic that weaves the elements of social work, counselling, and harp together in each therapeutic session.

I am a registered social worker and trained therapeutic harpist, but I am so much more than just the fingers making the strings resonate!

People who know me say I am warm, grounded, supportive, non-judgemental, resourceful, creative, hopeful, and a little bit feisty. When I am not working with clients or playing my harp, you might find me exploring nature with my young sons, officiating weddings, or finding creative ways to deconstruct the patriarchy!

The connection between music and healing has long fascinated me. As both a trained social worker and a creative, what excites me most is when I can bring these two worlds together. This has become the foundation of my practice today: connecting therapeutic modalities within a framework of social work, counselling, and the creative interweaving of therapeutic harp into each of my sessions and offerings.

As a registered social worker, I seamlessly incorporate my skills & knowledge around trauma, felt safety, and nervous system regulation into all of my individual and group therapeutic offerings.

As a therapeutic harpist, I work with anyone who is seeking to rest and reconnect with themselves. I draw on my life-long love of music and extensive training as a musician and therapeutic harpist to weave together curated restorative music experiences for people of all ages and walks of life. I provide therapeutic music for both individuals and groups. My music has taken me into many places where people gather to work, live and rest. I bring my harp to community agencies, schools, hospices, corporate wellness events, yoga studios, into nature and so many more beyond the limitations of the imagination. If you’ve got an idea, we can find a way to facilitate a therapeutic space together.

In my capacity as a counsellor, I support women who have been subjected to abuse and coercive control in relationships. Together, we unravel the tangled threads of abuse and chart a path back home towards ourselves. Many women feel that incorporating therapeutic harp into our sessions is integral to our time together. In this role I draw upon my own lived experience as well as the work of many feminist researchers, academics, and colleagues working towards the elimination of violence against women.

If you, your team, or your community or family member needs to Rest, Reconnect & Restore in any way - whether it is in a place of introspection and self care, or to assist with pain relief or life transitions - my harp and I will hold space for you to speak, rest, or move through the journey of it all.
